Museum lighting has a unique responsibility: protect the art and elevate the visitor experience at the same time.
At Ordrupgaard, buildings were energy-optimised, and an expansion included a subterranean wing. Customized spot solutions provided new underground basic lighting, while older exhibition lighting sources were replaced with energy-efficient alternatives—reducing consumption while improving the experience.

Key museum lighting principles
-
Precise beam control and uniformity
-
Color stability (art must look true)
-
Low glare for long viewing times
-
Efficiency without “dead” lighting
The goal is simple: visitors should feel the art—not the fixtures.
